Christmas Tree Festival 2010
As many of you already know Blendworth is taking part in the Christmas Tree Festival organised by St John’s Church Rowlands Castle. The whole event takes place from December 1st - 5th. The theme for Blendworth’s Tree is taken from Psalm 34: 8; “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him”. It is planned that the tree is to be decorated with lots of tasty goodies – small cakes, biscuits and sweets etc with a Christmas theme, making it a truly scrumptious Christmas Tree.
Anyone who would like to help in this exciting adventure would be very welcome.
The timetable for the event is –
December 1st – Decorate the tree at St John’s Rowlands Castle
December 2nd – “Light up a Life Service” at 7.30pm St John’s Rowlands Castle
All proceeds from this event will be donated to Naomi House Hospice for Children.
After the 5th December the tree will be brought back to Blendworthto be displayed in our Church.

A year in a day - 24 hours of worship at Portsmouth Cathedral
Wendy Kennedy has asked me to draw your attention to a very special event at the Cathedral
this Friday and Saturday - 24 hours of worship covering the whole liturgical year in a day in many different worship styles.
The website link is: 24_hours_of_worship
and a full programme is here: Programme.pdf
This promises to be a great occasion and the young guns in the diocese who have put all this together would really appreciate your interest and support.

CHARITABLE GIVING
A huge thank you to all who opened their homes and gardens and provided refreshments to raise much needed funds for our monthly charity appeals. What a great year 2010 has already been. And there is still a coffee morning and “Roast and Rolls” to look forward to in the next couple of months.
After 3 years Ruth Smith is stepping down from her role as Charitable Giving Organiser and so a vacancy arises for this position. Could YOU be the person who could “fit the bill”? No experience needed, no particular skills just a desire to help your church and those who live without all the things we take for granted.
If you have an hour or two a month to spare and a will to help others please come forward quickly as we hold a meeting late October/early November to select the charities we will support in 2011. Please contact Carol at the Parish Office.

New carpet at Blendworth
As part of the refurbishment of the South Aisle, the church is to receive a new carpet. Will you help us raise the money by buying some of the vacant squares, shown on our chart, in church. Each square is worth £6.50 – and please use the yellow gift aid envelopes where appropriate. Working together we can join up the squares and re-carpet the church.

Rogation Sunday
Rogation Sunday this year falls on May 9th and you will be able to read more about the celebrations in the April edition of the magazine.
Many people will remember travelling around the Benefice in a trailer drawn by a tractor, and although we are now unable to do this we are this year going to once again visit the four corners of the Benefice..
The plan is to meet in the car park at Holy Trinity Blendworth at half past two, stopping for worship at various points along the way and finishing at St Hubert’s Idsworth for a picnic tea. Our route will be via Holy Trinity -> St Giles -> St Michael’s Chalton and onwards to Idsworth.
If you would like to take part, we aim not to have an empty seat in any vehicle so we hope that there will be no problem for anyone wanting to go and enjoy the afternoon. We will also arrange to return people to Blendworth to collect their cars afterwards. We hope for a fine day!
